πŸ“Œ Ardchattan, Argyll & Bute
β˜…β˜…

Ardchattan is a scattered settlement well off the beaten track along the quiet north bank of Loch Etive. The scenic, single-track road along the shore is worth the journey just for the beautiful views, but it also leads to a tranquil and well-tended garden curling around the backdrop of Ardchattan House. Loch Etive is a sea loch, and the maritime warming influence together with the gulf stream allows a wide variety of plants to flourish, helped further by copious rainfall. The 11th century priory that the gardens are named after is accessible through a wooden door on the east side of the front lawn.
