πŸ“Œ Aberlemno, Angus
β˜…β˜…

The eastern region of Angus boasts an impressive array of ornate Pictish stones, and some of the very best examples can be found around the village of Aberlemno, on the old road between Forfar and Brechin. Three are located next to the road itself, of which one is a carved cross slab measuring almost 3 metres in height (pictured below), another is decorated by earlier, non-Christian symbols and the third is now just a standing stone weathered by time. The fourth Pictish stone is an even better-preserved cross slab with further symbols on the back, today found in the nearby graveyard of Aberlemno Kirk.
