π Ardchattan, Argyll & Bute
β
β
Ardchattan Priory was established in the 1230s by Duncan MacDougall, Lord of Lorn for monks from the little-known (in Scotland) Valliscaulian order. What remains today is the east end of the priory, with the west part now incorporated into Ardchattan House. There are also some fine carved stones on display, and the beautiful Ardchattan Priory Gardens are next door (the same car park is used for both sites).
