Borve, Isle of Harris

The bare bones of Dùn Bhuirgh hill fort stand guard over a low summit above Borve, South Harris. Constructed over 2,000 years ago, the stone walls of the broch are still easy to make out on the seaward side, though vegetation has partly filled in the interior. The short path to the fort is clearly marked out by wooden posts and passes the outflow for Loch an Dùin: popular tern territory, so prepare to be dive-bombed if visiting during nesting season.
