This is now one of the best brochs to visit in the Far North, following painstaking conservation work between 2015 and 2020 led by the Caithness Broch Project. Easily accessed from the A9 as it traverses the steep hillside north of Helmsdale, this hollow-walled defensive structure offers stunning views of the ocean beyond the confluence of two steep-sided burns. The tower originally reached around 6 metres in height and there are three chambers within the walls; interpretive panels provide more information about the broch as well as various other sites along the approach path.
