Just downstream of Loch Lubnaig the Garbh Uisge (Rough Water) has cut a turbulent passage between Ben Ledi and Meall Biorach. These are the Falls of Leny: not so much a single waterfall than a powerful set of rapids, focussed around where foaming waters are forced either side of an enormous, scrub-covered boulder. The original, north bank viewpoint has somewhat fallen into disuse and is overgrown in summer, but there is an alternative, longer approach on the other side of the river. Both these options are detailed below, or alternatively try the longer Falls of Leny walk route starting from Kilmahog.

From the Falls of Leny car park it’s a 5-min walk to the falls (⬤ Easy). Carefully cross the main road, then follow the path upstream (to the right) alongside metal railings. The path is narrow, muddy and rough in places, and gets overgrown in summer when it can be better to use the alternative approach. Alternatively, from the Ben Ledi car park it’s a 15-min walk (each way) to the falls (⬤ Easy). Leave the car park at the south end and follow the level track downstream for 1km, after which a rough path branches left to the falls.
