📌 Viewpoint near Loch Tummel, Perth & Kinross
★★★
When a single viewpoint comes furnished with a large pay and display car park, visitor centre and cafe, you know it must be pretty special. Today’s tourists savouring the magnificent vista up Loch Tummel towards Rannoch, Schiehallion and the very heart of Scotland are following in royal footsteps: Queen Victoria passed this way in 1866, and may well have assumed the Queen’s View was christened in her honour. It’s thought however that the name was coined over 500 years earlier, after Queen Isabella, first wife of Robert the Bruce. Sorry, Victoria: one may not be amused.
