📌 Tummel Bridge, Perth & Kinross
★★★★

Schiehallion – a Munro located almost exactly at the geographical centre of the Scottish mainland, and a perfect cone seen from Loch Rannoch. The place where the mass of the Earth was calculated, and also where contour lines were invented. And last but not least, bearing a name which sounds like it was invented by a pirate. Unsurprisingly, this is one of the most popular hills in Scotland, helped by a clear path up most of the gentler eastern slopes. Summit views potentially extend to mountains as distant as the Strathfarrar Munros, Lochnagar, Ben Nevis, Glencoe, Tinto and East Lothian, with several lochs in the foreground. No Munros are completely straightforward, however, and the crux of this one is the extensive boulderfield beyond an ego-deflating false summit. Extra care required in wet or icy conditions.
