Approaching from the car park, it’s clear to see that Kildrummy Castle was once a truly great fortress. It dates to the mid-13th century and was constructed by the Earl of Mar; despite its ruinous state, the castle’s imposing curtain walls, high windows and scale of the site still dominate the Strathdon countryside.
