π Village in Fife

β
Not far from the northern end of the Forth Bridges, Aberdour (mouth of the Dour burn) is within easy reach of Edinburgh and one of the best options for a half day’s excursion from the capital, no matter whether you arrive by train or car. There really is nothing dour at all about this bustling village, and though the short High Street has little more than a handful of cafes and gift shops, a short wander down a wooded lane brings you to one of Scotland’s oldest castles. Two sandy beaches are set at arm’s length from the centre, with a pleasant coast path joining them via the rocky headland of Hawkcraig Point. Our straightforward circuit (see below) takes in all of the above and more.
