The curiously-named Sluie Walk explores a section of the River Findhorn gorge between Logie and Forres; its only a couple of miles downstream from popular Randolph’s Leap, yet receives far fewer visitors. (For a longer walk, the gorge rim path continues and links the two sites.) Wooden signs painted in blood-red hues remind walkers to keep away from the gorge edges, so resist the temptation to peer too far into the abyss to capture glimpses of the swirling waters, far below. Occasional vantage points where the trees thin, coupled with the music of tumbling rapids, should be enough to get a feel for this stretch of the river – which has every pool described on O.S. maps with evocative names for fishing such as “Whirling Hole”, “Broad Reeds” or even the simple “Poolie”.
