📌 Moidart, Highland
★★★★

Rois-bheinn (Mountain of horses) is the joint-highest hill in Moidart, overlooking the Sound of Arisaig with superb views towards the Small Isles across the shimmering sea. Three Corbett summits cluster conveniently close together on the latter stages of this horseshoe route from Lochailort, but the whopping 1600 metres of total ascent mean the stunning panoramas, apparently abundant wildlife and ticked boxes really have to be earned. Excellent broad ridge walking characterises the middle of the day, following a particularly brutal, pathless ascent to gain the start of the ridge. Worth every painful step on a clear day.

Wildlife: Cuckoos heard, dragonflies & sheep lower down. Higher up: numerous frogs, solitary red deer, just the odd midge and lots of annoying daddy long legs.
