📌 Beauly, Highland
★★

The River Beauly is only named as such for a short stretch before it enters the Beauly Firth, but thanks to several major tributaries it drains a large part of Scotland west of Inverness. Hydroelectric dams have now mostly tamed its flow, but the riverbanks, rich with wildflowers in late spring, still make a beautiful backdrop to this circuit between Black Bridge (near the start) and the gracefully-arched Lovat Bridge downstream.
