📌 Stenton, East Lothian
★★
This short and shady squelch explores the peaceful forest that cascades down the steep northern slopes of Deuchrie Dod, above the slender Pressmennan Lake – a well-disguised artificial reservoir. The area is cared for by the Woodland Trust, which has marked out a child-friendly Glingbobs and Tootflits sculpture trail where you can look out for signs of these mythical forest dwellers. Views of the lake are fleeting on the outward track, but our return route follows a lower path closer to the tranquil water’s edge.
