📌 Sleat, Isle of Skye
★★★

This fairly popular out-and-back route visits the Point of Sleat: the southernmost tip of the Isle of Skye. It’s often a windswept place, but there are wonderful views across to the Small Isles of Rùm and Eigg from the little lighthouse providing safe passage for ships in and out of Mallaig. Underfoot conditions begin promisingly, but progress for the last mile (each way) is much slower, on a path which has some unpleasantly rough or boggy spots (heavy rain earlier in the day didn’t help!). Break the journey with a short detour to an unexpected wee sandy beach underneath the slopes of Creag Mhòr.
