This popular circuit from Pitlochry town centre follows the shores of lower Loch Faskally – a slender reservoir held back by Pitlochry Dam. A salmon ladder alongside the dam allows thousands of salmon and trout to pass the obstacle on their annual trip to spawn upstream, while anglers on the loch and in the river below are also on the hunt for brown trout and pike. Like many parts of Tayside, the leaf colours around here are spectacular in autumn.
