π Braes, Isle of Skye

β
This scenic circuit makes the perfect introduction to an exploration of Skye’s unspoiled Braes region, south of Portree. Today accessed by a single dead-end road, this is an area of scattered cottages and varied coastline – all with superb views across to the Isle of Raasay, and not yet overrun with tourists. The other highlight of this route is a series of rapids and waterfalls on the Ollach River, best seen after heavy rain (such as in the photos below).
