Loch an Eilein is probably one of the busier places by Cairngorms standards, but don’t let that put you off visiting – this is a sublime spot with good paths, beautiful vistas and glimpses of a ruined castle on an islet in the middle. A picturesque wander around the shores can be extended (as detailed below) by going the extra mile around quieter Loch Gamhna, backed by Kennapole Hill’s steep slopes. The steep hill of Ord Ban can also be climbed from the same car park.
