The Knock of Crieff is an elongated hill rising above the town of the same name. Breaks in the trees reveal sweeping views towards Ben Chonzie and the Highlands, with gently rolling farmland elsewhere on this pretty circuit – which mellows into a rural meander after the initial ascent. Keep your eyes peeled for red squirrels, red kites and the odd speeding Segway from the nearby Crieff Hydro resort! The tracks and minor road back from Ferntower are flanked by blackberries, raspberries and elderberries during late summer or early autumn: the perfect dessert to follow lunch in Crieff.
