Glen Affric, Highland
★★★
Sightseers who have already headed up to Am Meallan from the same trailhead might expect this other little loop from Glen Affric’s road end to be something of an anticlimax. But they’d be wrong: this walk packs in a lot of variety with no need to exert much energy at all, alongside tumbling rapids. The level path won’t quicken the pulse, but occasional, tantalising glimpses of high mountains above tall tree canopies will. Much of Scotland used to look like this before mass deforestation took place, and fortunately pockets of pristine woodland still exist, such as here.
