π Mid Calder, West Lothian

Calderwood is the less fashionable, southern portion of Almondell and Calderwood Country Park. Comprising a sliver of land in between deep glens carved by the Linhouse Water and Murieston Water, it offers unspoilt woodland, birdlife and relative peace and quiet. And after wet weather, copious quantities of sticky mud – wellies recommended! This circuit can also be extended south to Linhouse Glen Nature Reserve (not described here), for a longer route with slightly rougher terrain in places. Alternatively, combine this walk with our Almondell route, which starts from the same point.
