Beinn Langais reaches only 90 metres above sea level, but the interior of North Uist is so flat that even a small summit commands a big view. Most of the island is usually visible from the top of the grassy dome, with Eaval prominent in the southeast quadrant; Berneray and South Uist stretch away beyond in clear conditions. The hill’s lower slopes boast two fascinating historic sites: a huge chambered cairn and a beautifully-sited stone circle. These both have good access paths but the going higher up can be a bit boggy: long jumping abilities might come in useful to cross some of the marshy depressions.
