📌 Torwood, Falkirk
★★

Built by the Baillies of Castlecary, 16th century Torwood Castle is one of two little-frequented historic sites within Tor Wood – the other being Tappoch Broch. Many historic ruins in the Central Belt have either been built over or you have to pay for them. Happily neither of these points apply here – though the building is in a perilous state of repair, so we don’t recommend getting too close!
