📌 Perth, Perth & Kinross
★★
The rosy bricks of St John’s Kirk form a natural hub for the east side of central Perth. St John’s isn’t quite the largest place of worship in the city, but it is the oldest still standing: the choir, transepts and nave were all complete by the end of the 15th century, with the tower soon to follow. Today’s building is a large and welcoming one, with leaflets available to guide you around the main features of the interior; don’t miss the several stained glass windows, the mason marks on some of the central pillars, or the flag-carrying Agnus Dei (which also appears on Perth’s coat of arms) on the ceiling of the crossing.
