πŸ“Œ Port Dundas, Glasgow
β˜…β˜…

The 69 mile-long Forth and Clyde canal connects the west coast of Scotland at Bowling Harbour with the east coast at Grangemouth. The main route just misses Glasgow, but at its closest point, a dead-end spur snakes towards the city’s heart, (now) finishing next to the M8 at Speirs Wharf. Many of the old industrial buildings – which once included textile mills, distilleries and power stations – have been converted into attractive flats with desirable waterside views and a secluded feel despite the proximity of the motorway and central Glasgow. There are no facilities for visitors, but we reckon it’s a wee weegie gem – and a real surprise after turning off the main road along the back of the development. Check it out if you’re close by.
