๐Ÿ“Œ Chapel in Largs, North Ayrshire
โ˜…โ˜…

A small stone building in a cemetery in Largs town centre houses a bit of a hidden gem. Skelmorlie Aisle is the grand tomb of Sir Robert Montgomerie of Skelmorlie and his wife, Dame Margaret Douglas. Constructed in 1636, the burial aisle used to be attached to a large parish church; this was demolished in the early 1800s but the tomb survived along with the graveyard. The stone monuments and painted wooden ceiling are incredibly intricate, and well worth a visit in combination with Largs Museum, which is located just around the corner.
