πŸ“Œ Dunfermline, Fife

First impressions could hardly be less promising: three metal warehouses on a rundown, semi-rural business park a few miles north of Dunfermline. Yet The Scottish Vintage Bus Museum turns out to be a truly fascinating afternoon out – particularly for Scottish residents (who will recognise the ancestors of present-day Scottish buses), or those with a general interest in buses (obviously!). Many of the scores of vehicles here are privately owned – renting storage and workshop space – but almost all can be seen up close, whether in the main warehouse or in the two workshops. The latter are accessible by guided tour – via bus, of course. Lothian Buses of Edinburgh are well represented, but there are models from across the Scottish mainland; there was even a bus from Hong Kong on our visit. The Lathalmond Railway Museum shares the site – this is run separately, though most visitors will visit both on the same trip.
