📌 Reay, Highland
★★

Sandside Bay is a bit different to other beaches along the north coast. For one thing, Dounreay nuclear power station isn’t far from the eastern end, and can easily be seen from the shore – though it’s currently undergoing decommissioning. The beach mightn’t be quite the region’s prettiest, but there’s plenty of sand to go around along with ample parking. Fresgoe harbour at the northwest end of the bay is also worth a look.
