📌 Village on the Isle of Harris
★★

The few houses making up the village of Rhenigidale cluster around a sheltered cove in between Loch Trolamaraig and Loch Seaforth on the east coast of North Harris, backed by the rocky prow of 528 metre-high Tòdun. The main access route today involves a relatively new, well-built but steep road pass from Loch Màraig; prior to 1990 the only ways to get here were by a steep, 4-mile path or a boat. However you reach Rhenigidale, there’s not a lot to do here, and that’s the beauty of the place: explore the small, pebble beach, climb a nearby hill or stay a night at one of Scotland’s remotest youth hostels.
