πŸ“Œ St Andrews, Fife
β˜…β˜…β˜…

St Andrews is famously the home of golf (or at least of the modern game), and the game’s origins and links with the town are documented in the smart R&A World Golf Museum, which underwent a major refurb in the months leading up to June 2021. There are clubs, trophies and uniforms a-plenty, spread across a single large room opposite the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse; if you can’t afford a round on the famous Old Course itself, you can at least try a putt or two on a strip of fake turf within the museum itself. While perhaps an must-see attraction for fans of the game, the attraction’s relatively high price tag may put other prospective visitors off; it was nearly deserted on our midsummer visit.
