๐Ÿ“Œ Viewpoint in Stirling

Mote Hill used to be Stirling‘s best viewpoint for all points north, with two old cannons and a stone formerly used for executions decorating the summit. The National Wallace Monument and the Ochil Hills are among the landmarks to look out for; Stirling’s residential districts are also well seen below. Unfortunately recent vegetation growth has obscured the view as of 2023; the first two photos below were taken in 2015 before the foreground vegetation ran riot. There are several possible approach routes; the flattest option follows paths generally northeast from Upper Castlehill, but the most scenic climbs up from below Stirling Castle‘s ramparts on the west side, starting from Corn Exhange Road. Or combine the two as part of an energetic walking tour of the city centre.
