๐Ÿ“Œ Boat trip from South Queensferry, City of Edinburgh
โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…

Until the 1960s, South Queensferry was the departure point for boats connecting the south side of the Forth to Fife. After the road bridge opened the ferry ceased, but there’s still a regular boat departing from Hawes Pier towards the east end of the village, for passengers only. The Maid of the Forth passenger ferry provides one of the best ways to view the majestic and iconic Forth Rail Bridge as well as the two road bridges, and it also provides the link to Inchcolm Abbey, a ruined monastery on the small island of Inchcolm in the middle of the Firth of Forth. Other highlights to look out for from the boat are the concrete-covered islet of Inch Garvie, views of nearby Edinburgh and Arthur’s Seat, and seabirds (including puffins) during summer months.
