📌 Church in North Kelvin, Glasgow
★★
Queen’s Cross Church on the west side of Glasgow is the only church ever designed by famous Glasgow architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. It’s now widely known as The Mackintosh Church and joins the list of Mackintosh attractions dotted around Glasgow including The Lighthouse, Scotland Street School Museum and The Glasgow School of Art (devastated by fire in 2018). Despite a fairly muted exterior, the inside of the church (and church hall) is instantly recognisable as a Mackintosh building, from the rose motifs to the strict geometric shapes and Art Nouveau influences. The church is too far from the city centre to walk easily, but far enough that finding a parking space nearby should be straightforward.
