📌 Waterfalls & woodland near Straiton, South Ayrshire
★★

A series of attractive waterfalls on a tumbling burn surrounded by tranquil woodland makes Lambdoughty Glen an ideal diversion if you’re passing through nearby Straiton. Paths lead up both sides of the valley from the car park, joining at an upper footbridge enabling a beautiful short circuit (detour briefly upstream from the bridge to see a couple more waterfalls), with Rossetti Linn the main highlight after heavy rainfall. The remnants of pine cones devoured by red squirrels were everywhere to be seen on our February 2016 visit, so keep an eye out for rusty scurryings in the trees. Failing that, there are some wooden animal sculptures in the upper part of the glen.
