📌 Killin, Stirling

6 lichen-dusted boulders make up this lesser-known stone circle close to the River Dochart, a short walk from the centre of Killin. Kinnell Stone Circle dates from 2,000 or 3,000 BC and is therefore remarkably well-preserved – though some sources suggest it has been restored at some point. The monument now finds itself in the middle of a field, so beware livestock.

My daughter and I did the walk to the stone circle while visiting Scotland back in 2017. We were there when the trees through the forest had lovely autumn colours so it took us a bit longer that the 15 minutes you describe above – stopping for photos can add a lot to time. We loved the stone circle which was bathed in sunlight on the day and was perfect for photography. I now have the name of the circle – thanks.

Glad you had a good day for it Del, and you're certainly right that stopping for photos adds time! Thanks for commenting.
