Baile Mòr, Isle of Iona
★★
Iona Heritage Centre can be found midway between Iona’s jetty and its abbey, close to the parish church. This single-room museum is a good first port of call on a trip to the island, and serves as a reminder that there’s more to the place than religious history alone. Wildlife, fishing, crofting and general island life from 1700 to the present day are all covered, with a tea room in the same building which might come in handy on a rainy day.
