📌 Ford, Northumberland
★★

Until the 1950s, Hay Farm was an important hub for this part of Northumberland, providing both horse- and steam-power for the surrounding Ford and Etal estate. Nowadays it cares for (and breeds) endangered Clydesdale horses – a large Scottish breed originating from the region around the River Clyde in Lanarkshire. Other highlights include lop-eared pigs, ducks, a large collection of old farming machinery and high-season, horse-drawn carriage rides. And last but not least, the locally-made pork pies, jams and baked goods!
