Consisting of wooden sculptures designed to slowly rot away back to nothing, this sculpture trail is a rather unsettling spot, albeit in a beautiful wooded setting above the River Feshie in the Cairngorms. There are (or at least, were) 11 sculptures joined by a meandering path, each intended to portray the often fractious relationships humans have with others, alongside references to Scottish culture. Some have now returned to their earthy origins, which nicely echoes the theme of life’s impermanence, with death eventually affecting us all, no matter who we are. At the end of the short trail there’s a direct track back to the car park, but a more scenic alternative is to follow a waymarked riverside trail along the banks of the Feshie. Still not enough? Further trails lead from the opposite end of the car park to lovely Feshiebridge gorge.
