Fife Zoo opened in 2019, curiously close one of Fife’s other animal attractions: the Scottish Deer Centre. The zoo is decidedly small scale with around 10 species of mammal, 15 types of bird and a handful of reptiles, amphibians and creepy-crawlies at the time of writing in 2025 – though numbers are increasing as the attraction continues to develop. Given the small admission fee, it’s a worthwhile place to pop into every now and then if you live locally, or perhaps if you’re driving past on the A91 towards St Andrews. Monkeys, lemurs, armadillos and tortoises are among the star species; the walk-through aviary also allows decent close-up views of the birds.
