The Falls of Truim are an easily accessible, worthwhile stop off if you’re travelling along the A9 between Dalwhinnie and Newtonmore. An arched stone bridge and pinewoods make for a characterful setting, with narrow paths (of varying roughness) giving access to several viewpoints. The “falls” are a set of rapids rather than a single drop, with dozens of potholes and pools carved out by centuries of erosion.

π¬ From the car park it’s a 5-min walk to the falls. Walk north on a short gravel path before crossing the road and turning left onto a narrower side road towards the bridge above the falls; there is a parallel path on the right side for most of the distance. From the bridge itself, a path follows the north (far) bank with unprotected drops; there are also good views from the south bank (no proper path & slippery rocks – care required).
