📌 Dalmellington, East Ayrshire
★★★
This waterfall and its leafy amphitheatre setting is well worth a trip after rainfall, found up a narrow road just west of Dalmellington. If parking was easier, Dalcairnie (/ Dalcairney) Linn (/ Falls) would be better known – however you decide to spell it. A slightly overgrown path leads upstream to reach the waterfall, with an easier track alternative. Combine the two for a very short circuit.

💬 From the single parking space above it’s a 10-min walk (each way) to the waterfall, with a choice of two routes (⬤ Easy). For the most scenic route, faint paths lead east across fields to the Dalcairnie Burn, which is followed upstream (some overgrown spots) via two footbridges to the waterfall. Alternatively, follow the tarmac road south, passing to the right of Dalcairnie Farm. The public road becomes a track, climbing to cross a bridge over the burn. Just before this bridge, a path on the left descends to the waterfall. Combine the two routes for an easy circuit (<30 mins round trip).
