π Village on the Isle of Jura
β
Requiring a long drive and two separate car ferries (or a long passenger ferry) to reach it for most visitors from the Scottish mainland, Jura is one of Scotland’s most remote inhabited islands, famously described as having only one road, one pub and one distillery. Craighouse is the “capital”, and in fact the only proper village on the island. It’s well worth the trouble to get to: this is an extremely photogenic place with a beautiful outlook over the bay and local Small Isles. The Jura Hotel serves excellent food.
