📌 Plockton, Highland
★★

Head west from Plockton – beyond its useful railway station and its unexpected aerodrome – and you’ll find the path to Coral Beach, named Port Luinge on O.S. maps. This pleasant crescent bay features sand made from calcified seaweed, a.k.a. maerl. Non-pebbly beaches are fairly scarce in the wider Lochalsh region and this is one of the most accessible, so on a sunny summer day you’re unlikely to get it to yourself.

💬 From the car park it’s a 15-min walk (each way) to the beach ( Easy). Follow a track west from the south end of the car park (where you entered from). The track becomes a path and eventually descends to the beach with a few rocky sections near the end.
