📌 Mellon Udrigle, Highland
★★★★

The remote Rubha Mòr headland extends north from Aultbea and Laide, bordered by the beautiful inlets of Loch Ewe and Gruinard Bay. The two curiously-named, main villages – Mellon Charles and Mellon Udrigle – have names derived from the Gaelic meallan (small, flat-topped hill) and are reached by single track roads up the west and east coasts respectively. The peninsular highlight is at Mellon Udrigle, where an exquisite white sand beach has a stunning outlook across to the Coigach and Assynt hills. If you have time to spare, a worthwhile path leads north around Rubha Beag.
