πŸ“Œ Pitlochry, Perth & Kinross
β˜…β˜…β˜…

Blair Athol Distillery is conveniently situated on the A9 corridor at Pitlochry, next to the main driving and public transport routes north and south through the heart of the Highlands. It’s also one of the country’s oldest distilleries, with over two (legal) centuries of almost uninterrupted production since being founded in 1798 under the “Aldour” tagline – taking its name from the Allt Dour Burn which runs through the site and provides the water source. For the 2020s visitor, the tour is quite a photogenic one, around a relatively small scale production area. The disused but well-preserved malting floor is a highlight; we also loved the amazing bar which has been crafted out of an old mash tun. A good choice for a yet-to-be-enthusiast’s first distillery tour.
