π οΈ Route closed for tree felling work until approx. spring 2024 (checked April 2024)
The Tall Trees Trail near Dalavich explores the woodland on the west side of Loch Awe. En route there’s a lochside section with views of an old crannog, and a minor waterfall surrounded by fine, tall Douglas Firs in Mackenzie’s Grove. Some of the rest of the circuit isn’t quite so interesting, but the trees provide shelter in rainy weather. Note – not to be confused with the popular hill walk up Ben Cruachan, on the north side of the same loch!

Walkers should be aware that currently (April 2023) the forestry track at the top of Mackenzie’s Grove is closed, with large warning signs to go no farther because of forestry operations. So you have to go back down Mackenzie Grove and retrace your steps.
Thank you Ray – I’ve added a note about this to the top of the page.
