The Caiy Stane (or Camus Stone, Key Stone or General Kay’s Monument) is a 2.7 metre-tall, 5,000 year-old standing stone. Found on a quiet residential street in southern Edinburgh, it may make the location of an ancient battle between the Picts and the Romans. It appears to have survived miraculously well apart from a few faint graffiti marks; you can even make out a row of Neolithic cup marks on the back.
