📌 Hawick, Scottish Borders
★★★

A Textile Towerhouse in a textile powerhouse: this three-floor museum is a nod to Hawick‘s status as Scotland’s knitwear and cashmere capital. All aspects of the industry are covered here, from old handlooms and hosiery to modern fashion; also on display is Daniel Radcliffe’s quidditch jumper and scarf as seen in the Harry Potter films – produced here by a local firm. The building itself is Hawick’s oldest, incorporating a 16th century tower built by Sir James Douglas of Drumlanrig into an 18th century extension.
