๐Ÿ“Œ Nethy Bridge, Highland
โ˜…โ˜…

If you travelled north from Nethy Bridge in the first decade of the 2000s, you may well have spotted a forlorn ruin, seemingly disintegrating into rubble and obscurity. Step forward the Castle Roy Trust, and this 12th or 13th century Comyn fortress’s future has been secured. Foundations have been fortified, towers have been touched up and repairs have run their course. There’s quite a lot to see for a roofless, hollow structure: enter the imposing arches, climb to the corner tower, ponder the Panoramic Picnic Point, enjoy an event at the Performance Place, bound across the Bard’s Bowl or meander through the Matrimonial Meadow (yes, they do weddings), or even just brush up on your alliteration skills, since the Trust clearly have some experts at their midst.
