Backhouse Rossie lies just off the main east-west road through central Fife. The estate dates to the 11th century, once forming a hunting ground for Mary, Queen of Scots. Today’s main draw is the extensive walled garden, split into quadrants each with their own character. But there are several other areas to explore including a family-friendly Bear Walk, Covenanter’s Tomb, views of the fine Rossie House and a tempting cafΓ©.
